While I was getting the kids ready for bed, I asked Parker and McKenna what they want to do when they grow up.
McKenna- do gymnastics
Parker- wipe a boogie on your shirt
Hmmm, not impressed with answer number 2, let’s try this again…
Me (now dodging boogies)- No, what do you want to be when you grow up.
McKenna- I want to be a ballet dancer.
Parker- A box
Wonderful, a boogie picking box, we have taught him well.
At least he is sweet.
We just switched the kids to toddler beds which results in something similar to a frat party in their bedroom.
The change has left me with late nights, early mornings and little time to write.
The clock is ticking until the sun comes up and little feet will be pattering down the stairs again.
Happy Tuesday, hope you enjoyed more sleep than I did!

Ugh I know we should move to toddler bed soon, but why rock the boat when they are still content in their cribs? Other twin moms have said to keep them in there as long as I can! I think I would have to empty all of their shelves, dresser drawers, and closet!
Tonya says
I laughed out loud at the response “a box”.
Love the St. Patrick’s Day tees.
Miri says
Oh yes… the frat party… I know that one.
I’ve sort of just given up and resigned myself to the fact that they will eventually pass out, and that there really isn’t that much I can do about it.
Jennie B says
I don’t care what my kids do when they grow up as long as they let me sleep ๐
Hope tonight goes better for you – it’s been a rough week over here.
Sherri says
A box? Why not, a box can be anything! Great answer….

LOVE the frat house, can you imagine what they will be plotting in there soon enough!
Jessica says
You are flying in for support when that happens or at least some one for me to drink wine with!

Laughing (through the head-smacky hands) at the aspirations, aww-ing at the photo, and as for the new bedroom arrangement….hoo boy, I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.
We’re still working on pulling together Ash’s new bed. I’m really hoping I’ll get it made in time for his birthday, but I’m not sure. We’ve got the bunk-bed-framework, the mattress, mattress protectors, and at least one set of appropriately-sized bedding — so in theory we could shift him to the new twin-sized bed before it becomes the homemade, castle-themed safety bed that it’s meant to be, but….no, I think not. He’s gonna be SIX and he’s been crammed into the same crib this whole time. We couldn’t even turn it into a toddler bed, because he couldn’t sleep without feeling enclosed. Transitioning to his first new bed in his life is going to take all the crafty whiles I can apply to it.
Jessica says
Oh my gosh, I remember doing that with my oldest, I think the crib went back up twice and then she had a tent over her bed and then I had to stay in there for hours on end until she was asleep. Good luck, hope it goes smoothly.

But that could be an awesome thing… wanting to be a box. That means he is open minded, flexible, able to carry heavy loads, and FULL of ideas!!! ;o) That’s probably the most awesome thing I’ve heard all day… thanks for sharing!
Linds says
It is an ambitious choice, that is for sure! So cute!

Love their St. Patrick’s Day shirts…
Good luck on the toddler bed sleep training…
Priscilla-The Wheelchair Mommy says
I hope the transition smooths out quickly and that the beds remain boogie free. *blech*
hehe

I’m scared of the day we put the twins into toddler beds.
When my now 14 year old was little, he told us he wanted to be a magician. You know, the guys who work on cars. He totally meant mechanic, and we still tease him for it ๐

The image of a “boogie picking box” had me LOL! Very funny. Visiting from TRDC.

A boogie picking box? What great dreams for the future. Good luck on getting some sleep.
Sarah says
Ha ha! Too funny!
Good luck with the beds!

I’m sure being a box would be an interesting job – he could make a fortune, as he’d probably be the only human box available… ๐ Such cute kids!
Hope you get some more sleep soon as they get used to their new beds!
Leighann says
That’s crazy!
Parker wants to be the same thing I do!
Jessica says
Do you have a training program? Although he probably doesn’t really need one.
Penbleth says
Parker definitely is sweet. Toddler beds are so cute, which clearly means it is YEARS since mine were in them and I had to keep putting them back in them.
They will settle.
Shell says
A boogie picking box? That is hilarious!!!
Lizbeth says
I love that he wanted to be a box!
The sleep thing—jeesh, I’m still trying to find an answer to that one, and one that doesn’t involve caffeine!
Memoirs of a Single Dad says
Ah yes, I remember the toddler bed introduction. I felt so bad before I moved my son to the toddler bed. He always looked like he was imprisoned in his crib when I would go to get him in the morning. The early (we’re talking between 5-6 am) mornings lasted from approximately 3 years old until he was about 5. At that point he could get himself a little tide-me-over breakfast without requiring me. I made ‘real breakfast’ when I woke up around 8. The entire two years between I never wanted anything more than to imprison him back in his crib until 8am so I could get my needed 6-7 hours of sleep.
Elena @NaynaDub says
Leaving crib jail is so, so tough (on the mommy, of course)! Hopefully the frat party wasn’t an all-nighter. ๐ Happy Tuesday to you!
Elena @NaynaDub says
And I forgot to mention…I love Parker’s future career!
Jaime says
Sleep? Hmm…let me think, yes I think I have a memory of this. Well, I don’t know, maybe I was just dreaming…
Adrienne says
This is so funny! It really made me giggle this morning. Thanks! ๐
Jackie says
Just know that it will get better with time!!
Hope you are able to get a nap in sometime today!
Nicole@MTDLBlog says
This post is so funny. I dread the toddler bed with two! I love how you likened it to a frat party….too cute. What about putting a gate up so they have to stay in there room – tell them they can play quietly until Mommy comes to get them? Or is that still begging for a major disaster?
Jessica says
They actually have not been coming out too much but seriously sounds like a party in there. The lights flicker on and off, there is bed jumping and then someone is always waking up in the middle of the night. Sooner or later the novelty will wear off right??
