I love the weekly prompts at Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop but got so caught up in yesterday’s post that I missed them.
When I saw the prompt to write a 6 word memoir of a significant time in your life I knew mine instantly.
————————————-
“Would you like to hold her?”
I have heard this question three times:
As my oldest daughter took her first breaths in the world.
As my youngest daughter took her last.
And as my middle daughter was finally removed from her ventilator, to breathe on her own.
Reminding me to exhale.
And hold on.

Incredible what you have survived and even more meaningful is how you’ve been able to continue to love and love more.
I’m new to your blog, and every post I’ve read so far has made me want to cry. This one just pushed me over the edge… crying <3 You are an amazing, strong woman and as many times as you've heard this before, you really do have a way with words.
Thank you so much for spending time here and reading my posts. I am sorry about the tears but truly appreciate you taking the time to read.
Sorry I’m so late getting over here, but I wanted to tell you how beautiful and perfect this is. xo
Thank you Cheryl, that means so much coming from you.
This is beautiful. My favorite of all the 6 word memoirs.
Really? Thank you!!!
You never cease to make me think, pause and appreciate life. (You also never cease to amaze me)
Awww, thank you so much Yuliya.
Beautiful and powerful.
Even though I was “warned” not to read your six words…I had to. They are wonderful, they are painful, they are hopeful. And yes, yes, yes, I am crying.
WOW! This is absolutely beautiful. And it’s so true, such a simple yet powerful question.
Yes to the goosebumps. To the tears. To no breath.
Just beautiful. What a tribute to your loves.
So very special.

Heart warming and heart breaking. I can’t believe six words and a few sentences after could trigger such emotion in me but it did.

This took my breath away. You’ve painted a moment that spans eternity in just six words. I think we’re all exhaling after reading this. Beautiful!
Beautiful. Who knew 6 words could mean so much?
Isn’t it wondrous how less is better?
I have always felt that.
Makes me think of the Mark Twain quote, “If I’d had more time, I’d have written you a shorter letter.”
Perfect quote. Maybe I should start 6 word blog posts.
I love your words.

Powerful for sure. What a meaningful picture.
So much meaning in such a short sentence! Beautifully done.

Beautiful Jessica, as always. Your words always move me with their truth and straightforwardness. God bless you.
6 words that take my breath away. So beautiful, Jess.
Sorry – I went and called you “Jess” and don’t even know if you like that. So, Jessica!
People call me Jess all the time. 🙂
It is amazing how powerful six words can be.
Less IS definitely more.
Less is a powerful way to get a point across.
Less is amazing when you can feel the emotion behind it.
Thanks for continuing to inspire me and give me a reason to check my Google reader 😉
