Sawyer’s birthday is so close to the 4th of July that we usually add the celebration into our 4th festivities. This boy loves baseball and red, white and blue so I decided to combine it all and create baseball cupcakes with an All-American feel.
Red, white and blue baseball cupcakes
What you’ll need:
1 box of your favorite white cupcake mix or the ingredients to make it by scratch.
Red and blue gel food coloring
White frosting
Red gel icing
Corn starch
What to do:
1. Make your cake mix as usual but separate batter into three separate bowls.
Set one bowl aside then add a teaspoon of red gel food coloring to one bowl and blue gel food coloring to the other.
Note: I always use the gel colors, they give rich color to whatever you’re dying. This kit from Wilton is my favorite. It has lasted forever because you only need a small amount to get the color you desire and it has every color you might need.
2. Fill each cupcake tin with a tablespoon full of red, white or blue batter.
Move to the next color batter and fill each cupcake tin with the next better and then do the same with the last.
Bake as per your usual baking instructions.
3. When frosting, frost as usual with white frosting. To smooth out the top of the frosting, dip your finger in corn starch and pat down the tops of each frosted cupcake.
Draw the baseball design on each cupcake with your red gel and you’re done!

Cute kids. I can’t imagine getting a good pic of all of them at once. I have a hard enough time with just one.
Heading over to read your #mommyfail moment now…

So true, he is always trying so hard to do just what they do. The two year-old version just looks a little different sometimes :).

Those must-take-them occasions are the worst. That is usually when I can\’t get anyone to post to save me life.
