Over the years I’ve tried out a million books on my kids. With 18 years of bedtimes behind us, I’ve decided to compile the ultimate list of bedtime stories. Some are old, some are new, but all are the books my kids ask for night after night.. the big ones and the little ones. Enjoy and let me know if you have a favorite that’s not on the list.
The Bunnies Are Not in Their Beds
My kids love this story of three kids who keep getting out of bed and I can completely relate to the parents, except for the not-being-a-bunny part.
Just Go to Bed
We love ALL of the Mercer Mayer books but this is one of our favorite, my kids recite the whole thing and I’ve been reading it since my 18 year old was a toddler.
You Are My I Love You
Ten points if you can get through this one the first time without crying. While not a bedtime story there is a beautiful rhythm to it that compares the parent and the child. One of my absolute favorites.
Goodnight Faces
My youngest loves this one and the rest of the kids still get a good laugh out of turning into all of the faces in the book.
Tell Me Something Happy Before I Go To Sleep
The sweetest book about a brother who helps his sister fall asleep. I kind of wish my kids did this instead of coming to get us a million times so I’m hoping the book might rub off on them ;).
Dreaming
If there weren’t little people talking, I could totally be asleep by the end of this one. It’s a sweet, whimsical countdown to sleep.
The Going To Bed Book
Such a cute book about what everyone does before they go to sleep.
Snuggle Up, Sleepy One
Why are all of the animal babies so adorable? We love this one.
Fish Kisses
Okay maybe this one is my favorite, it’s all about how different animals show each other that they love each other, making it interactive and the perfect way to sneak in some extra hugs and kisses.
Are You Ready For Bed?
Totally relatable, the mom puts all of her kids to bed only to find that one is still awake. Such a sweet story.
