I am notorious for not having all of the ingredients I need for a recipe.
And then I wing it.
And I substitute this for that.
And then the pizza man arrives with dinner.
But this is one recipe I am always prepared for because it only takes three ingredients (or four if you want more than one type of donut).
Fill a small, deep pot 1/2 to 1/3 the way full with vegetable oil. Heat over medium until oil is ready for frying.
While waiting for oil to heat, separate biscuits and poke a hole in the center of each. For thinner, fluffier donuts, separate biscuit into two by peeling in half horizontally.
Before beginning to fry, fill baggies 1/3 way full with powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar.
Place dough carefully into oil one at a time, using tongs to turn. They will cook quickly, about 10 seconds on each side.
Set donuts on paper towel to soak up oil and then begin transferring to baggies with powdered sugar or cinnamon.
Seal baggie around one donut and shake until covered.
Remove from baggie, shaking off excess sugar and enjoy!
*Pictures and process would be easier to follow if I had not been cooking with children and hot oil, but it would not have been any fun either.

Pinned it on Pinterest the complicated way and then realized you had a “pin it” button! Ha! I have a knack for making things difficult. =) Thanks for the recipe.

Mmmmmmmm, donuts.
My mom just got one of those silly homemade donut maker thingies because she got the idea that, whenever she had grandkids come to visit, she needed to make donuts.

Way to destroy some people’s New Years resolutions…totally kidding.

Reading this at 11:00PM is not a good idea. I am going to have to go raid the pantry for something sweet now ๐
These look so good! I’m definitely going to try them with my girls. I always have those ingredients on hand too (and the pizza # on speed dial!)

So good to hear from you Jessica. Your family is beautiful! I look forward to scrolling through more of your posts and learning more of your story. Happy New Year!! (and those donuts look YUMMY!!)

I am so like you. I wing it on recipes and yeah, it was better if I ordered food or just followed the recipe.
Reminds me something my grandma said. If you eat something that is burnt, it cleans out your insides. lol. I am from a long line of burners!

Not only is that an awesome use of biscuit dough, but those Santa suit pjs?
Totally distracting. And awesome.
Jessica says
I found them at Hanna Andersson, he loves dressing up and wanted to be Santa so badly but I couldn’t find a dress up costume anywhere. He is in love with them.
