We all know, well anyone full immersed in the autism world knows, Autism Awareness Month begins April 1st. For the last few years I have really, really, really wanted to find a way to communicate to everyone what people touched by autism want the rest of the world to know.
So I’m going to try it here in my little corner of the blogosphere. Send me a picture of you or someone you know or love who has autism, holding up a message they would like the world to know about autism. Maybe something they feel misunderstood about or just something they want to share.
Sort of like this:
Depending on how many I get I will either post one a day for the month of April or make a slideshow of them all and display it here and everywhere else I possibly can. Is a slideshow of thousands displayed in Time Square too high of a goal?
Send me your pictures to fourplusanangel@gmail.com or you can put in on the Four Plus an Angel facebook page. If you aren’t comfortable taking a pic just send me your message and I will put it on a slide.
Please pass this along to anyone you know who may be interested in participating.
If you are a Pinterest user I would be thrilled if you would pin the image below to spread the word.
The autism numbers are now 1 in 88.
That is scary,
and future-changing
and so many other things that words fail me.
I’m not sure what my little slide show will do but I know it will be more than just one voice and our children, every one out of 88, deserve it.

Pinned!! What a lovely initiative! And you’re right 1 in 88 is a sobering number. Good for you for working to spread more awareness.
I love this idea so much, and that picture is adorable 🙂
Love the idea and i do think it will make a difference.
I don’t have pictures to share but I do have a website which spreads awareness of autism. It was started by a teenage boy with autism. He, Daniel, is the nephew of one of my good friends. His website is

Thanks so much for sharing, off to check it out.
If my son will let me take his picture, I will faint!! I’m going to try though. This is such a great idea!!
I can NEVER get pictures of Ashlyn, almost all of them are from the back or just catching her in action. I’m glad I’m not the only one whose kid hates being photographed.
I love this idea!
What a wonderful gesture – thank you for being the voice of so so many of us! I’ve emailed you my “1 in 88” photo – can’t wait to see all these amazing people!
Really great idea and I feel inspired seeing your zeal to bring this idea forth for every one. God bless you. Time has come to work for such children.

I just saw a super great video of the faces of autism. I saw it earlier today. I’m gonna hunt it down again and send you the link. Stay tuned…
