I officially became a work-at-home mom several months ago.
The job is luxurious, let me tell you.
I don’t have time for a shower lounge in pajamas all day, balance the phone to my ear while wiping butts spend hours chatting with my business partner and break up sword fights while sending out our media kit.
BUT, it is very empowering to combine the ability to stay home with my children with the chance to do something I love.
So with my new venture in life I decided it was time to stop using photos of myself cropped out of a family pic and get head shots.
At the risk of going off track for a minute, did I ever mention I cannot make a decision? Like, it takes me 20 minutes to decide between baked potato or rice, butter or sour cream?
My photographer Scarlett, of Chasing Shadows Photography did an amazing job and I. CANNOT. CHOOSE.
So help me pick which one I should use:
Hair done by Lily and make up by Sonja, both of 6 Salon in Birmingham, you. must. go. there.
Oh and before you go thinking I really do live the glamorous life, here’s an insider view of my photo session, cling-on and all…
And in closing I leave you with one more glimpse into the work-at-home-mom world…
If you’ve ever hosted or attended a twitter party you know how fast-paced they are, the only saving grace Tracy and I have found is to keep Skype chat open during the twitter parties we host so we can communicate during the chat if I screw up something is going wrong.
Transcript from our Skype chat happening DURING our latest twitter party:
[3/27/12 1:27:21 PM] Jessica Watson: OMG poop explosion during twitter party
[3/27/12 1:27:42 PM] Tracy Morrison: OH NO! Do you need me to tweet from PSS?
[3/27/12 1:29:31 PM] Jessica Watson: I’m good, just changed him.
Multitasking at it’s finest.
I will be tweeting with my feet before you know it.
Because changing diapers with them would be more grossness than even I can handle.
Don’t forget to tell me which picture to choose, I need it for something exciting coming up ๐

Aw, sweet multitasking! ๐ Only we, women can do it. I think you should go for #2! That photo looks very honest, and you, content and happy! ๐ Great shots!
Avril says
Luxury of life working at home. You can enjoy caring of your kids and your husband while earning your own money.
Charlotte says
OMG!!! You are SOOO beautiful. I mean, I always knew this… but holy hot momma in these pictures! I think #2 is my favorite. Your smile is so beautiful… and radiant. And love the cling-on pictures, too. So cute!
I commend you for the multi-tasking. That’s pretty impressive!
Alicia D says
oh my gosh, you are so pretty. (im sayin’ in a totally straight, platonic way). these photos are great! i think i like 1 and 4 the best mb? its hard to decide. i love the “behind the scenes” bc i was looking at you thinking “wow, she’s so together… how does she do it?” and then i see “real life” in the second batch of shots and think… oh, ok, its just like my life!
Dara Dokas says
The photos are all great! But, if you have to choose, I’d pick #2. I like your smile/laugh a lot.
Good luck!
Tara - BePreparedPeriod.com says
Stopping by to check out your blog. I LOVED this post! So real! All the pictures are gorgeous, I’d go with picture number 2. ๐
Sharon {Grumpy, Sleepy, and Bashful} says
First off, you’re going to get no help from us, they are all beautiful!!! For some reason I like #1 and #4 best. Must be the colors of your shirt and background. If I really had to choose, I think #1.
Gorgeous, and I loved your post. Pretty hilarious, and I’m always up for a behind the scenes sneak peek!
Missy | Literal Mom says
This was quite funny! And those pictures are completely AWESOME. I like #2 the most. Definitely.
julie gardner says
NUMBER ONE!!!
But you are so gorgeous. DANG lady.
I mean really.
Gor.Geous.
(I know. My most shallow comment of all time.)
Tonya says
I like #2 and #3 best. Something about the yellow background. ๐
All are beautiful.
I *especially* like the second set.
Melissa says
#2! Love it! Congratulations, Jessica!
Stephanie says
I like 1 and 2 the best. See I can’t decide either!
Shalani says
I like the no.4 you look so lovely with your smile.
The Mommy Psychologist says
I vote for 1. Also, you need to get a blue tooth. Hands free makes life easier.
Kelly K @ Dances with Chaos says
They are all gorgeous, but my favorite, the one my eyes keeps going to?
The outtake of you in the tan shirt, with your daughter. There’s just something about your smile in that one edging it above the cropped ones.
Liz says
Working at home has a lot of advantages. You can earn money while managing your families need.
Galit Breen says
You’re totally and completely stunning!
(I have no decision making skills either. But I like sweet potatoes. Can we add them to the rice or potato convo?)
I think #1. Maybe.
xo
Pamilia C. Hayes says
You are absolutely beautiful in every photo! Congratulations on your new venture! Thatโs awesome!
Life As Wife says
One or four! Four copped in a little would be amazing.
You are beautiful!!
Kristen says
You are absolutely beautiful in every photo! No wonder you are having such a hard decision. #1 is my favorite. It looks like your husband captured it in a moment if every day. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them though…seriously!!
Julie says
If I were at your place, I would chose the number 4. You look happy in a natural way, I also like your outfit, and I have to say, you look really hot and charming. By the way, the photographer did really a great job, it is really hard to chose from these.
Marta says
I think I like #1 or #4 best but that’s because I like that shirt on you!
Klz says
I love #1.
And if I end up needing to learn to change diapers with my feet, I might quit this mom gig.
Tayarra says
I like 3. Can’t wait to hear more.
alita says
Good for you! Congratulations on your new venture. I say 1 or 2, but you look gorgeous in all of them.
Enjoy!
Mad Woman behind the Blog says
You look gorgeous in all of them but I think #4 says, I’m approachable and I know what I’m talking about.
..even if I don’t.
Good luck!
Jessica says
I love this post and #2! Congratulations on your new venture! That’s awesome!
Courtney Kirkland says
You look beautiful in all of them….but I’m loving #2 the most. Looks natural. Like we’re getting a glimpse into what life is REALLY like. LOL I need to do this, too. I haven’t had headshots since I was a teenager.
Kimberly says
Number 2 gorgeous…wait that sounded wrong ๐
Not a Perfect Mom says
either 2 or 3…dark backgrounds are a major no no…
looking good!
Jaime says
I like #2.
Jen says
Ha! That is so awesome that you can work from home and have found an awesome business partner.
I have to say I LOVE #2! Hands down it is the best.
Elena says
Great shots! As far as the ones that are numbered – I vote #1 or #2. But, I LOVE the shot (not that I don’t love the others) of the outtakes – the one that is in the upper left hand corner. You can just tell that you’re really laughing there because of how McKenna is hiding behind you. I think you could either (a) just keep her in it b/c it’s something different & cute or (b) crop that one up a bit. I just think outtakes are fun to use – but that’s just me. This coming from a girl who has lobsters in all of her social media profile pics. ๐
Jackie says
All of them are incredible!! My favorite though is #2.
JDaniel4's Mom says
They all look great! I love number 2.
Brigette says
This post cracked me up! Thanks for sharing. I really like picture #3!!
Sara K. D. says
#2 – it appears the most genuine (and beautiful, of course).
Brittany says
You are gorgeous in all of them but I am a big fan of #2 and that beautiful smile!
p.s. I SO need to have pics taken without kids being cropped out ๐
Kir says
Love your pictures and your stories…thanks for the giggles. ๐
GOOD LUCK wtih new venture and I love #1. I did not look at everyone else’s answers yet, but 1 is the one that I keep going back to, so that’s my suggestion.
You look beautiful in all of them.
Stacy Uncorked says
I vote for #2…though I see why you can’t decide, they’re all awesome! ๐
Amy says
I love #1 ๐
I love reading your blog… what happened to the ‘Dear Daddy’ series? I loved reading them and so did my Husband ๐
Congratulations on your new venture!
molly says
First of all, you are GORGEOUS!!! I think you should use #2 because you look most happy in that one!
Karen says
I agree with Dena–#3 seems the most “businesslike”. But if youre going for what looks most like who you are, then I’d say#2.
tracy@sellabitmum says
I like #4 best. But honestly, maybe use one of the outtakes? LOVE those! xoxo
P.S. Can I be gorgeous like you and have a nice rack when I’m in my 30’s? Oh wait…I think I already missed that decade.
Vanessa says
I like #4. And #3. And #1. Did this help at all? lol. Also, love the “professional” shots and then the “what really happened” shots! =)
Shell says
LOL @ the inside look!
I like #1 and #4. You seem to be connecting more with the camera, look friendly, yet still professional.
Evonne says
I love all the pictures, but #2 is my favorite.
I finally got into a routine with working from home. I love it, but it is definitely not always easy.
Nancy says
Hi Jessica, I like the shots #2 snd #3. Neither would be a mistake. I like the black sweater on you, and it is a good contrast with your fair complexion and hair. Really beautiful. Your smile is really beautiful! I like the others, but I think the color of the sweater isn’t as complimentary to your pretty face. — but what do I know. You do look beautiful in all of them!
Krista says
You look gorgeous! If I had to pick, I’d say #2, but really, they are all fantastic.
Sarah @ Spoon Fed Baby says
I like number 2! Love the behind the scene shots too ๐
Erin@mommyonthespot says
The photos turned out great! My favorites are 2 and 3. Congrats on your new adventure!!
Kristin says
I did notice a few minutes of down time and chalked it up to a kid disturbance. Bummer it was poop related.
I like picture #2 best, it’s the cheeriest. But #3 is my second choice.
Nicole says
hmmm all of your pictures are great and gorgeous. well i go with number 2 since it has the perfect smile
Kmama says
I’m a fan of #2, though all four of them are awesome. You are beautiful!
Nicole @MTDLBlog says
Hahaha! This is SO going to be a part of your Blog Idol Interview feature….LOL. It’s between #1 & #4 for me. Although, I think you look beautiful in them all.
Missy Olive says
They are all awesome! you are sooooo photogenic! Since I don’t know you personally, it is hard to tell which one is more like the real you. I’ve only recently started following your blog so I hardly feel like I know your blogging personality either. ๐
I know your smile is not too big in #1 but I’m tending to lean towards it.
But in all honesty, my favorite is not listed. My favorite is the one where your daughter is hiding behind you. I’m sure it can be photoshopped!
We just got new headshots too. We had them but then I cut my hair off and we didn’t have any of us together as owners/colleagues. It was great fun. And thank goodness for photoshop.
Jayme says
Dang girl! I already knew how beautiful you were but these are stunning! I like all of them 2. I just had mine done too because I figured it was time because I have some things in the works. I need to post mine too to show off the amazing camera work.
I really need to find a job where I can work at home. Both of my kids are home sick from school and I always feel so guilty when I have to call off.
liz says
You know that i’m a fan of having multiple for various reasons. Since they are all pretty much the same crop right now, what about choosing one that’s just of your face (that the photog could crop down) and choose a different one that includes more of you?
Like, maybe keep #1 as is, and then have #2 cropped down to your face? That way you have a more formal look and a more casual/fun one?
angela says
They’re all so pretty! And your little shadow is pretty cute, too ๐
I am indecisive, too, so maybe I shouldn’t even weigh in. I like #4 but like the close-up-ness (what? that’s not a word) of #2. (Then I scrolled back up and maybe like #2, with #4 as a second choice. See, indecisive…)
Mark says
I love #2. The photo! Not the #2 in the toddler sense of the word.

Making It Work Mom says
I like #2 the best and #4 the second best.
Congratulations on your business venture!
Late Enough says
#4. Everyone else can stop making suggestions now. I have spoken. Heh
AizaMarie says
Working at home is really a nice feeling for moms because they can be a housewife and at the same time they work and make money..
Liza says
A taxing luxary but I enjoy it – I am so glad I get to be with my kids :o) as long as you are making due and you are happy then that is what is right for you family!
aubrey says
love them all, beautiful as usual, but I think I like#1 best!
Heather Coleman says
My favorites are #1 (great smile here) and #3 (you look like a powerhouse in that one). What look are you hoping to convey with these? Thinking maybe serious because of the crossed arms pose in most?
Dena Laney says
I like #3 the best – seems most “business-like” in my opinion. ๐
Dena
christine says
First of all, let me just say, you are one HOT mama! (And I love that you included the pictures with the kids hanging on you too.) My favorite, since you asked, is number one. But they are all absolutely gorgeous!
Diana says
I would say go with #2… very real smile.. vibrant! ๐
Love the share and agree about multitasking with kids/tweets/diapers and more hehe… ๐
Yuliya says
I like number two for warmth and number one for sultriness…looks like I can’t make a decision either.
Jessica says
Thanks for your help and justifying my indecisiveness.
