I try to feed my kids healthy foods. I also avoid taking all of them to stores and restaurants like the plague. My husband’s hours are long so sometimes this leaves us with nothing but the dreaded drive thru on busy days. Since ordering water would label me as the uncoolest mom to ever drive a minivan I usually compromise with juice.
I was given the opportunity to try out Juicy Juice Fruitifuls and decided to swap them out for our typical juice drinks for the week. I stashed them in the van, kept them readily available in the fridge and slid them in my purse during a trip to the show. Besides saving us quite a bit of money (I believe a large drink at the movie theater is somewhere around $25) my kids also happily drank them instead of begging for (insert long drawn out whine here) “anything besides water Mommmmm” when we were picnicking at the park or on the go in the evenings.
Since Juice Juice Fruitifuls have 35% less sugar than other juice drinks I think we shaved a pound or two of sugar off of our diets and I even drank them because they didn’t have that so sugary I need to brush my teeth after drinking taste like a lot of fruit drinks. According to my calculations this will allow me handfuls more of the Halloween candy my children collect this week thus saving them from even more sugar.
I’m thrilled to be giving away a $50 Visa gift card and coupons for free Juicy Juice Fruitifuls to one lucky reader today.

Homemade pasta sauce is a great way to add veggies. I dice green and red peppers, onion, and mushrooms and add it to my sauce. Good for everyone. I also like to make fruit/veggie breads for breakfasts and snacks. Banana, pumpkin, zucchini breads are all delicious and add that extra bit of nutrition. I also try to replace a bad choice with a good choice as much as I can. When I want to put chips on my plate with my sandwich, I go for a sliced apple or handful of grapes instead. Not always what I do, but I try. My husband also has a great trick – eat the healthiest part of your meal first, then eat the rest. You will get that nutrition and might not eat as much of the other stuff.
