I might as well give you the two week warning that my baby will be four very soon. I’ve been watching him drift off to sleep and picking him up too much and looking at old photos and trying to get out the sentence “we should have one mo…” before my husband interrupts with “you. are. insane.”
During my nightly scrolling through photos I found this post I wrote on Memorial Day 2010 and it’s just as true today (minus the baby pool, they won’t all fit… cue nostalgic tears and one more check on my baby while he sleeps)…
My wonderful husband served in the Air Force. We spent a great weekend with him remembering how lucky we are that he and so many others have made the sacrifice to serve our country.I have a feeling years ago, when he was traveling around the world in camouflage, he never thought he would be spending the day in a plastic baby pool but I know he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Memorial weekend 2013
(Parker found his daddy’s hat from when he was in the Gulf and came back decked out in his military pj’s and asking to carry the flag. This boy does nothing half-way.)
Happy Memorial Day! Hope you are enjoying the long weekend and taking a moment to remember the true reason for the day.

I really wish that more people would stop and honour this day for what it is instead of worrying about where the BBQ will be.
Thank your husband for me. They are amazing souls to sacrifice themselves in the name of freedom xo

Your baby will be 4? No, we can’t accept this. The picture on the porch with the flag is so perfect Americana. Love to you and your beautiful family on this Memorial Day.
